Natural Rubber (NR) increased by 6.0 per cent in November 2016

Natural rubber production rose by 6.0 per cent in November 2016 to 65,984 tonnes compared to last month. The smallholding sector was the main contributor to the natural rubber production which is 93.2 per cent.

Average monthly price of latex concentrate and S.M.R. 20 in November 2016 at 538.45 sen per kilogramme and 712.16 sen per kilogramme respectively. The average monthly price of latex concentrate increased by 50.75 sen per kilogramme (+10.4%) from October 2016. Meanwhile, the average monthly price of S.M.R. 20 increased by 102.68 sen per kilogramme (+16.8%).

In November 2016, exports of NR recorded at 54,624 tonnes dropped by 8.0 per cent as compared to the previous month. Five main export destinations of NR were China, Germany, Iran, Korea and U.S.A.

Domestic consumption of NR rose by 1.1 per cent to 41,197 tonnes over the same period. 73.8 per cent of domestic consumption dominated by the rubber glove industry.

The level of NR stocks went up by 7.4 per cent to 183,900 tonnes at the end of November 2016.

Table 1 presents the principal statistics of rubber for November 2016 while Chart 1 shows the monthly time series.
