Following the hard freeze that covered Lafayette and Acadiana in recent days, residents may be experiencing water pressure issues related to broken water lines.

LUS is currently experiencing a decline in water pressure due to the increased demand caused by this extreme weather event. With temperatures rising above freezing levels, Lafayette Mayor-President Joel Robideaux and Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) urge citizens to check for water leaks and turn off running faucets to help alleviate the effects. While these occurrences seem minor and isolated, the overall effect on the LUS water system can be significant. During this time, LUS is requesting that all customers reduce and monitor their water usage.

LUS customers who experience emergencies related to water and waste water should call 337-291-5700.
