The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW) sent a letter to the Senate Finance Committee today, expressing its support for Rep. Tom Price, M.D. (R-Ga.) to be the next Secretary of Health and Human Services. The letter reads:

“Your committee will soon consider the nomination of Rep. Tom Price, M.D. (R-Ga.) to become the Secretary of Health and Human Services. On behalf of the more than one million members and supporters of the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), I strongly support Dr. Price’s confirmation to this post.

“As the current chairman of the House Budget Committee and former chairman of the Republican Study Committee, Dr. Price has been a strong advocate for combating waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the federal government. Since first taking office in 2005, he has earned a CCAGW lifetime vote rating of 93 percent. As both a budget hawk and medical doctor, Dr. Price will bring much-needed reforms to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as the nation moves away from Obamacare toward a patient-centered, market-based healthcare system.

“Dr. Price is the right choice to lead HHS. He will use every tool at his disposal to restore a vibrant and affordable healthcare marketplace and rein in wasteful Medicare and Medicaid spending, which should include a significant effort to both prevent and recover improper payments. I urge you to support his nomination.”
