We are seeking a Discovery Bench Scientist, Immunology. The Scientist should possess broad skills in the areas of immunology, thriving in a collaborative project team setting at an aggressive small biotech company. The successful scientist will bring creative therapeutic strategies to the team and independently execute scientific workplan through pre-clinical translation. Title and compensation commensurate with level of experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, implement and conduct scientific experimentation to discover, design characterize and develop molecules for agonizing and antagonizing checkpoint receptors and to exploit their therapeutic potential in autoimmune and inflammatory disease indications
  • Lead, participate in and lead support project teams focused on discovery and therapeutic development of antibodies and targets with therapeutic potential
  • Broad experience with executing, developing, and implementing functional immunoassays; flow cytometry-based binding assays; human primary cell assays; ex vivo sample analysis
  • Propose and develop novel therapeutic engineering strategies
  • Create and support novel intellectual property
  • Organize, record, and communicate data effectively

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in immunology, cancer biology, cell biology or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of post Ph.D. academic or industry experience in a research/development environment with emphasis on immunology
  • Expertise in checkpoint receptors
  • Track record of successful internal and external scientific collaborations
  • Strong flow cytometry skill set
  • Expertise in the in vitro and in vivo characterization of therapeutic molecule candidates, familiarity with in vivo models
  • Prior experience evaluating therapeutic candidates in autoimmune/inflammatory disease setting is a plus
  • Energetic and flexible can-do attitude, out-of-the-box thinker and creative problem solver, ability to establish novel discovery paradigms
  • Advanced computer proficiency including use of spreadsheet and word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work with co-workers and outside agencies professionally and tactfully
  • Entrepreneurial, enjoys working in a fast-paced, small-company environment. Ability to function well with volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity; to take disparate inputs and drive them into one cohesive strategic regulatory decision; to work under pressure, meeting time sensitive deadlines, while maintaining a high level of quality
