Since early 2000, Mr. Chen was based in Shanghai in charge of iD TechVentures’ China operations when it was still Acer Technology Ventures.
Mr. Chen’s China team co-manages the US$260 million IP Fund I and he invested US$31 million into 16 early and expansion technology companies.
To support continuous investment, Mr. Chen’s China team also manages IP Fund III, which focuses on digital lifestyle services and devices.
Mr. Chen is the director of some 10 companies, including a founding director of Linktone (Nasdaq: LTON).
Under his guidance, Acer Technology Ventures became a top VC and Mr. Chen is recognized as one of the most active venture capitalists in China.
Before 2000, Mr. Chen was a board member of Singapore listed Acer Computer International Ltd.
He initiated, managed, and oversaw more than 10 diversified national and joint venture operations spanning from Moscow to Auckland and from Seoul to Bangalore.
Before 1991, Mr. Chen was involved in the Acer Group’s successful presence in Mexico and ex-Soviet Union markets.
He became the first Chinese to deliver a public speech in the Kremlin in May 1991 when he presented to some 2,000 Russian political and industrial leaders.
Before joining the Acer Group, Mr. Chen was with the public sector.
He holds a B.S.
from National Taiwan University, a MBA from Fordham University, and studied EMBA at Peking University.
