Conseil Européen de l'industrie Chimique, also known as the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic), is a non-profit organization that represents large, medium, and small chemical companies across Europe. The non-profit company was founded in 1972 and is based in Brussels, Belgium, with subsidiaries in Belgium. Cefic is committed to the UN sustainability agenda and has developed a unique roadmap, called the Transition Pathway, to guide the European chemicals industry through the massive transformation needed to meet the EU Green Deal goals. The Transition Pathway lays out more than 200 actions for the EU institutions, Member State governments, and industry to build the business case for investing in sustainability. Cefic provides clarity, predictability, and direction to guide the industry through the transition.
