Robert Irvin joined Defenders of Wildlife in 2005 and currently serves as Senior Vice President of Conservation Programs.
He is a Professor of Biodiversity Protection at Vermont Law School and the University of Maryland.
Mr. Irvin was a Director of US Conservation for the World Wildlife Fund, Vice President of Marine Wildlife Conservation, General Counsel of the Center for Marine Conservation, and Senior Counsel of Fish and Wildlife.
He was a Director and Counsel of the Fisheries and Wildlife Division for National Wildlife Federation and Trial Attorney of the Civil Division for the US Department of Justice.
Mr. Irvin was a Member of the IUCN’s Red List Criteria Review Working Group.
He was a Co-Chairman of the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources Section of the District of Columbia Bar and a Director of the Environmental Law Institute.
Mr. Irvin received a BS degree in Forest Science from Utah State University in 1980 and a JD degree from the University of Oregon in 1983.
