René Dubacher

Dr. René Dubacher is a Swiss Rock Asset Management AG Senior Equity Manager.
With over twenty years of experience in portfolio management, manager selection, and product development for institutional customers, he has a strong background in the practical application of empirical methods to equity portfolio management.
These include Index-enhanced, long-short, and market-neutral equity portfolios.
During his earlier career, he held several high-level positions, including Quantitative Portfolio Advisor at Aganola AG, Senior Portfolio Manager with Mathematica Capital Management in San Francisco, where he acted as Lead Portfolio Manager for all global and regional index-enhanced portfolios, and Co-Manager for the equity market-neutral hedge fund Mathematica Global Equity Fund.
From 2006 to 2012, he held the position of Managing Partner at AlphaStream Capital Management in San Francisco, the USA, and Pfäffikon, Switzerland, where he performed several roles as Portfolio Manager for European Equity Long/Short Funds, a Swiss equity index-enhanced product and various strategy portfolios.
As a member of the senior management team at the Zurich Group (Zurich Scudder Investments), he was responsible for institutional operations in Switzerland.
Dr. Dubacher studied economics and financial market theory in the Swiss cities of Berne and St. Gallen and Rochester, USA. He was one of the first students of Prof.
Dr. Zimmermann to gain his doctorate at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), where he published a wide range of articles and papers.
