Profile

From pioneering the first online ad buys and web sites, through to teaching CEO that text messaging “is not just a European thing” Mr. Cushman is renowned as a digital media pioneer.
After a highly successful career in advertising, planning campaigns for Coca-Cola, Unilever, General Motors and Nestle which included managing an ad agency in a totalitarian Marxist-Leninist regime, he left to do that “internet thing” knowing that engaging consumers in an actual dialogue and even tracking the results was far superior to the :30 spot.
An internet boom and bust story later, the only remnant is a slew of awards from Microsoft, Web MD, ePolicy and some other companies whose stock is worth pennies.
But that time included running the first WAP banner ads for redEnvelope in 2000 and that led to a fascination with the marketing possibilities of mobile.
Prior to working with North Venture Partners, Mr. Cushman was VP Mobile Marketing at m-Qube for 3 years, creating some of the largest and most effective mobile marketing and mobile content programs to date and achieving several notable industry firsts along the way for the likes of P&G, Coors, Warner Music, Pepsi, Nestle, Nike, Boost Mobile, T-Mobile, Kodak, Visa, their agencies and many more.
To North, Mr. Cushman brings a unique blend of digital new media evangelism and old agency account director skepticism, an excitement to the creativity enabled by modes of communication matched to the disciplines of accountability, tracking and ROI.
