Karl F. Birkenfeld

Mr. Birkenfeld has over 25 years' experience in the securities industry in both investment banking and institutional sales.
Throughout his career he has been involved in initial public offerings, private placements and various forms of debt placements with a variety of public and private as well as domestic and foreign companies.
His specialty is microcap growth companies.
He raised funds for a number of vastly successful companies, most notably the seed money for NYSE Ciena (currently CIENA Corp., NasdaqGS:CIEN), one of the most successful venture high tech deals of the 1990's.
He graduated from Syracuse University in 1977 with a degree in International Relations and afterwards was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army.
He served four years as an Armored Cavalry officer.
While serving in the Army, Mr. Birkenfeld attended Webster University and was awarded an M.A.
degree in Management and Hospital Administration, he attended Brooklyn Law School and graduated with a J.D.
