John Amato has over 15 years of investment and advisory experience and joined Istithmar in 2006 as Chief Investment Officer.
He is responsible for driving Istithmar’s global investment strategy, including overseeing the investment portfolio and managing the industry verticals.
Prior to joining Istithmar, Mr. Amato was a New York based Managing Director of IFIL USA where he was responsible for the US investing activities of IFIL Investments SpA - the investment vehicle of the Agnelli Group of Italy with net assets in excess of $5 billion.
Prior to IFIL, Mr. Amato was Head of Financial Sponsors M&A for Banc of America Securities.
Previously, he spent 10 years with Lehman Brothers in New York and London where he worked in the M&A and Merchant Banking Groups.
Mr. Amato began his professional career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in San Francisco.
A CPA, Mr. Amato holds an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where he was a Tuck Scholar and a BSC cum laude in Finance from Santa Clara University where he was elected to Beta Gamma Sigma.
