Founded in 1954 as Merita Nordbanken Investment Management, the firm became Nordea Investment Management AB in 2001 when the Nordea name, an abbreviation of Nordic ideas, replaced Unibank, Nordbanken, Merita and Christiania Bank in a joint renaming operation.
