FleetBoston Financial Corp.
FleetBoston Financial Corp. Major BanksFinance Individually managed equity portfolios emphasize long-term growth and are constructed from a list of between 30 and 50 stocks carefully selected from a universe of about 300 companies. Typically large capitalization, these stocks are identified through a process that combines bottom-up company-by-company analysis with top-down screening. Approved stocks are combined in a portfolio that is deliberately diversified across economic sectors to manage risk while capitalizing on long-term economic expectations and demographic trends. Equities: The firm methodology for equities investing includes a systematic analysis of macroeconomic conditions. To be included in a portfolio a company must: 1) have historically low relative p/e ratio of stock to industry, stock to market and stock to GNP; 2) be growing at a rate greater than its current p/e multiple; 3) have a strong cash flow; 4) have increasing levels of dividends. Stocks are sold when they reach an extreme in the established price range, the fundamentals deteriorate, or there are more compelling buying opportunities available. Balanced & Fixed: The firm uses a combination of economic, international, and political analysis to begin to determine the proper asset allocation between fixed-income and equity investments. Fixed-income parameters are based upon forecasts of trends in economics and interest rates and other technical considerations. The equity portion of the portfolio is determined by establishing a likely range for the market based upon forecasts of earnings, inflation, and corporate price-earnings. In addition, consideration is given to the clients' investment objectives. | Director/Board Member | 30/12/2004 |
