WING TAI HOLDINGS DIRECTORS: NEW APPOINTMENTS & RETIREMENT

SINGAPORE, 2 JANUARY 2018: Wing Tai Holdings Limited has appointed Mr Guy Daniel Harvey-Samuel and Tan Sri Dr Zulkumain bin Hj Awang as Non Executive Directors to its Board.

Mr James Lee Kim Wah, its long-serving director, will retire from the Board today as he will be turning 80 years of age. Mr Lee has been with the Company from day one, serving as a manager in the Company's appointed auditing firm and was later invited to join Wing Tai as a staff member. Over the span of his successful career, spanning over 50 years of service, he had held a variety of roles from finance to human resource and to labour relations. He retired in 2008 as Finance Director of the Company at age 70 and stayed on as Senior Advisor and Independent Non-Executive Board Director.

"James was the go-to man who was involved in every aspect of the business especially in its nascent years, and during the phrases of rapid expansion which established a strong foundation for the business. He was trusted by the founders, known and respected by government officials, business associates and the community at large," Mr Cheng Wai Keung, Chairman of Wing Tai Holdings, says in acknowledgment of Mr Lee's inimitable role in the business.

Beyond Wing Tai Holdings, Mr Lee's contribution extends to the wider labour community, which has benefitted from his innovative ideas and practices that were introduced in the property and retail company. Mr Lee was awarded the prestigious Medal of Commendation (Gold) for his contribution towards the Singapore Labour Movement. In recognition of his public service, he was conferred the Public Service Medal (PBM) by the Singapore Government.

"His heart has always been with the workers. James appreciates that the business is built on the shoulders of each member of the staff body. He has led Wing Tai to be among the leading employers in terms of staff training and development, and staff welfare. As such, he will remain with us as our Senior Advisor, for the Company supports and invests in employee advancement and growth," Mr Cheng says.

"We are gratified to have loyal and committed staff members like James, who dedicate their best years and expertise to the business, who have grown and stayed with the Company through thick and thin," adds Mr Cheng.

Guy Harvey-Samuel

Guy Harvey-Samuel is a Singapore citizen and was until 31st March 2017 Group General Manager, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore, The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He then retired from executive responsibilities within HSBC Group. Mr Harvey-Samuel was, until retirement, a member of HSBC Asia's Executive Committee and had direct responsibility for all HSBC operations in Singapore.

Mr Harvey-Samuel is now non executive Chairman of HSBC (Singapore) Ltd and continues to be a member of the Advisory Board of the National Youth Achievement Award Council, he also sits on the National Arts Council Advisory Board. He is a Board Member of the Jurong Town Corporation ("JTC"), Surbana Jurong Private Limited, National Parks Board and Mapletree Industrial Trust Management Ltd. and is also a member of the Community Chest Committee.

Prior to returning to Singapore in 2013, Mr Harvey-Samuel was HSBC's Group General Manager and Head of International, Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong, responsible for HSBC businesses in 12 countries in the Asia Pacific Region.

Mr Harvey-Samuel joined HSBC in 1978. He worked in 12 different countries across the world and undertook senior management roles in Australia, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

He is married with two sons and resides in Singapore.

Y. Bhg. Tan Sri Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkurnain Bin Hj. Awang

Y. Bhg. Tan Sri is a Malaysian citizen and was until 29 November 2017 an Independent Non-Executive Director of Wing Tai Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Wing Tai Malaysia Berhad).

Y. Bhg. Tan Sri graduated from University of Malaya with a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) Degree, Master of Arts in International Affairs (Management), Master of Arts in Political Science and Certificate in Public Administration from Ohio University of United States of America ("USA") and a PhD from University of Leeds, England. Y. Bhg. Tan Sri also attended the Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School at Harvard University, USA in 2000.

Y. Bhg. Tan Sri had served amongst others as a Director of National Institute of Public Administration, Secretary General of the Ministry of Federal Territories, Secretary General of the Ministry of Education, Chairman for Education Service Commission, Chairman for Board of Directors of Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Guru. He also authored various books and articles on several topics relating to public and private sector.
