Watpac JV to build Port Macquarie Base Hospital Expansion Project

Watpac Construction today announced it had secured a $65 million contract to build the Port Macquarie Base
Hospital Expansion Project.
Watpac Construction has entered into a 50/50 Joint Venture with National Buildplan Group to deliver the project, which will be known as the 'Watpac National Buildplan Port Macquarie Base Hospital Main Works Project Joint Venture'.
Watpac Construction's NSW State Manager Ric Wang said the project represented a significant milestone for the Watpac Group, and offered an opportunity to assist with the delivery of a vital piece of social infrastructure.
"The Port Macquarie Base Hospital Expansion Project is a key development for the region and the State, and we are extremely pleased that our Joint Venture bid with National Buildplan Group has been successful," Mr Wang said.
"The Joint Venture has strong links with the local community and intends to utilise local subcontractors and suppliers wherever possible," he said.
National Buildplan Group CEO Bill Wheeler said the Watpac Group's financial capacity and demonstrated experience in delivering government infrastructure projects would contribute strongly to the success of the project.
"As a key provider of health infrastructure in NSW for more than 15 years, we are delighted to be working on this particular project with Watpac Construction in one of our local areas," Mr Wheeler said.
The Port Macquarie Base Hospital Expansion Project will provide increased capacity and a greater range of services and improved facilities for patients including cardiology and emergency department admissions.
