MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - Following engine fires, truck manufacturer MAN is calling more than 60,000 trucks and buses into the workshop for inspection. To MAN's knowledge, there have been 170 fires so far that could have been caused by a specific engine fault, 18 of them in the current year, the brand of Volkswagen subsidiary Traton announced on Friday. Trucks and buses built between 2016 and 2019 with Euro 6c engines of types D2676LF51-53 or D2676LOH35-37 are affected. Their bearings are more sensitive to contamination and oil ageing. Failure to comply with the maintenance deadlines could result in damage after a longer mileage, usually between 400,000 and 500,000 kilometers. Around 120,000 trucks and 5,000 buses are on the road with these engines across Europe. According to MAN, around half of them have already been in the workshop./rol/DP/mis
