PRESS RELEASEAlain D. Bandle to leave VersatelDuesseldorf, September 14, 2011 – The Supervisory Board of Versatel AG announced today that they have accepted the request of Alain D. Bandle to resign as Chairman of the Versatel AG Management Board and has relieved him of his duties effective September

30th, 2011. The agreement to end Bandle’s term of office was mutually agreed. Mr. Joachim

Bellinghoven, member of the Management Board of Versatel AG since August

2009, will serve as interim Chairman of the Management Board until Mr. Bandle’s successor has been named.

The Supervisory Board appointed Alain D. Bandle as chairman of the Management Board of Versatel AG in May 2009. Since then Bandle has played a major role in the successful realignment of the company’s strategy to transform itself into an infrastructure-based market leader and preferred network partner for customers in the German wholesale and B2B telecom market. Moreover, the launch of the “Transform” program to boost efficiency enabled Versatel to further improve efficiency within the organization and focus the company’s efforts even more on the two identified areas of growth, Business and Wholesale, as well as reinforcing the firm’s support for its existing top quality private customers.

“We would like to extend our thanks to Mr. Bandle for his work and commitment to Versatel AG. His leadership made it possible for Versatel to build the foundation for a clear and promising strategy as Germany’s preferred metro fiber infrastructure provider.. We wish him all the best for his future activities,” said Henrik Kraft, Chairman of the Versatel AG Supervisory Board.
