Security of countertop payment device certified in compliance with latest GIE CB French national interbank requirements

San Jose, Calif. - 14 January 2014 - VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE: PAY), announced today that its countertop payment device-the VX 520-is the first payment acceptance device to be certified in compliance with the Groupement des Cartes Bancaires (CB Bank card Group) requirements for mobile and contactless payments. France's national interbank network accommodates more than 8 billion CB transactions annually.

The VX 520 was certified in compliance with GIE CB Bulletin 12V3, which establishes the latest requirements for card acceptance devices accommodating mobile and contactless payment transactions. The certification assures the VX 520's ability to provide secure payment acceptance for the 130 banks and institution members, 1.2 million POS and nearly 60 million cardholders in the CB network.

"Being the first to achieve compliance with GIE CB Bulletin 12V3 helps validate VeriFone's strong commitment to France as its leading provider of NFC mobile payment solutions," said Vincent Roland, vice president and general manager of France for VeriFone. "Banks and other financial institutions within the CB Bank Card Group can now offer their merchants the unprecedented performance of the VX 520, which can handle encryption, decryption and processing at lightning speeds, as well as the flexibility to manage multiple payment applications, mobile wallets, apps and value-added programs such as gift cards and loyalty."

An ergonomic countertop unit, the VX 520 is also certified for EMV, PCI PTS 3.  It is designed for easy use and includes a backlit screen and keypad for all lighting situations. Available with a full range of connectivity options, from local ECR and dial to Ethernet, the VX 520 can also be equipped with an optional PIN pad for use anywhere a merchant needs to accommodate card-based payments.

"The multiple connectivity options provide merchants with features that will boost productivity and accommodate customer interactivity, while the generous memory will support the most demanding value-added applications such as the multichannel Paybox thin client. This first step is a milestone towards new certifications that strengthens VeriFone's position in France," said Roland.
