USG : Unveils Quick-Dry Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane

Newest addition to the USG Durock™ Brand waterproofing membrane portfolio keeps unwanted moisture and vapor out, saves construction time and costs

CHICAGO- (Jan. 31, 2018)-USG Corporation (NYSE:USG), an industry-leading manufacturer of building products and innovative solutions, unveils USG Durock™ Brand Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane, a durable and seamless application for use in commercial and residential tile and stone applications.

USG Durock™ Brand Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane only requires a one-coat application when installed over vertical smooth surfaces, and is suitable for wet areas from showers (including steam showers) to flooring assemblies to countertops without additional vapor retarder. This liquid membrane provides a sealed waterproof barrier in a single-step application when administered over vertical smooth surfaces or in a two-coat application when used on rough surfaces and all horizontal surfaces. Its fast-drying time allows for quick turnaround on the jobsite.

USG Durock™ Brand Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane has the lowest permeance rating (0.38 perms at 20 mil dry thickness) among liquid-applied waterproofing membranes when tested to ASTM E96 (Procedure E), making it not only ideal for showers and other wet areas, but for continuous-use residential and commercial steam showers without additional vapor retarder.

USG Durock™ Brand Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane

• Anti-fracture protection up to one-eighth inch (3 mm) over shrinkage and other non-structural cracks
• Provides strength and water resistance
• Extremely durable, yet easy to handle and install, ideal for use in showers and other wet areas, including steam showers, floors, walls and countertops
• Low Permeance Rating (0.38 perms at 20 mil dry thickness) per ASTM E96 Procedure E
• Bonds directly to stainless steel, PVC and ABS drains
• For waterproofing applications, apply one coat on vertical surfaces for smooth substrates such as USG Fiberock® Tile Backerboard; apply two coats on rough substrates such as USG Durock® Brand Cement Board and for all horizontal applications
• For crack isolation applications, apply two coats each at wet film thickness of 25 to 30 mil on both vertical and horizontal surfaces
