(UPM Raflatac, Tampere, 27 January 2017 at 14:00 EET) - UPM Raflatac EMEIA has launched PP Lite, which improves sustainability through a combination of all-new face, adhesive, and backing materials. Our resource-efficient PP Lite sets a new standard for the sustainable labeling of rigid containers in the home and personal care and food segments.

PP Lite is built of a lighter face material, a lower coat-weight adhesive, and a lighter backing, making it a more sustainable choice for many applications. The entire supply chain benefits from PP Lite's resource-efficiency - a reduced transportation burden means lower emissions, while fewer reel changes in printing and dispensing save on energy and waste. Overall there is less waste material generated.

PP Lite labels are a sustainable choice that cover the majority of labeling needs for rigid packaging with smooth surfaces.

'Our Label Life concept looks at the lifetime impacts of different labelstock to assess their environmental performance. Through life cycle assessment in accordance with ISO standards, we found that moving from conventional PP to PP Lite label materials (face, adhesive, and liner) results in 16% less material use, a 15% reduction in energy and water, and a 18% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions,' explains Päivi Knihti, Business Segment Manager, UPM Raflatac EMEIA.
