Trelleborg's offshore operation will showcase its comprehensive range of high performance solutions at the Underwater Intervention Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana from 10 to 12 February on stand 306.

Delegates will get the opportunity to hear from Trelleborg expert, Bob Kelly, as he takes to the stage to give an in-depth and informative presentation on buoyancy, entitled 'Syntactic foam for underwater vehicles'.

Bob Kelly, General Manager of Trelleborg's offshore operation in Boston, will present the philosophy of selection, development and qualification of syntactic foam buoyancy for subsea vehicles.

Kelly commented: "I am excited to be speaking at this important industry event and look forward to discussing new developments in manufacturing and testing of syntactic foam buoyancy with conference attendees. Underwater Intervention attendees have historically provided us with excellent input regarding current and future buoyancy requirements.  An interactive session such as this allows Trelleborg to listen to industry professionals and align our development goals with theirs.

"Underwater Intervention provides the ideal platform for Trelleborg to highlight its solutions and expertise on demanding subsea applications directly to the people who can benefit from them most."

Located on stand 306, the company will present its portfolio of subsea innovations, including its pioneering high performance hollow glass microspheres, Eccospheres® and Eccofloat® syntactic foam, used in ROV buoyancy.

Amongst its subsea offerings, Trelleborg's offshore operation manufactures a range of high performance, low density syntactic foam solutions for deep sea buoyancy applications. These composite foams provide ultra-low densities through the selection of only the highest specification hollow glass microspheres called Eccospheres®. They are designed to provide the highest strength to weight ratio when used in composite materials.

When Eccospheres® are combined within a rigid, high strength resin system it makes Trelleborg's Eccofloat® syntactic foam. Eccofloat® syntactic foams are used to prepare large buoyancy modules, which can be readily shaped to custom configurations for ROVs, AUVs and manned submersibles. Oceanographers also use Eccofloat® to suspend instrumentation in deep ocean studies. Trelleborg has developed a new method that produces finished modular geometry, to optimize processing costs and lead times.
