TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. Named as a Designated Public Institution under Basic Act on Disaster Control Measures

TonenGeneral Sekiyu K.K. (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; president: Jun Mutoh; "TonenGeneral"
herein) was named by the prime minister as a "designated public institution" under Article 2, Item
5 of the Basic Act on Disaster Control Measures on April 1, 2015.
TonenGeneral recognizes that energy is a pivotal element in Japan's social infrastructure, and we work continuously to maintain and reinforce the supply chain while maintaining close contact with the relevant authorities in order to ensure a stable supply of petroleum products.
Sixty-seven companies in the electric power, gas, railway, communications, transport, and other industries had already been named as designated public institutions. The addition today of eight oil companies brings the current total to 75.
Specification as a designated public institution will enable TonenGeneral to play a more substantial role in disaster response through means such as transport vehicle pre-notification to allow the passage of transport vehicles on emergency routes to ensure the rapid delivery of emergency supplies of petroleum products by tank trucks and other vehicles. TonenGeneral will also have access to the anti-disaster radio communication system operated by the Cabinet Office, enabling us to provide rapid assistance through the sharing of information about damage and response in the event of disasters and emergencies.
