Important recognition for the company's sustainability which has registered excellent performance for programmes aimed at flexible working and parental leave
Only three Italian companies have been included in the list of 230 companies

Terna, the company that manages the Italian national transmission grid, has been selected, for the first time, for the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index (GEI); an international index which measures corporate performance on gender equality issues and the quality and transparency of public reporting, which is a decisive aspect in the overall assessment. For 2019, Bloomberg has analysed over 9,000 companies listed on the main global financial markets, with headquarters in 36 countries and representing 10 different sectors (including energy, manufacturing, utilities and finance). 230 of these companies have been selected for the GEI, with only three Italian companies making the list.

Terna, the only Italian electricity company present in the international index promoted by Bloomberg L.P. since 2018, has recorded excellent global performance with regard to issues linked to composition of the board and programmes aimed towards flexible working conditions and parental leave.

'Inclusion in this international index makes us very proud and reflects the importance and attention the company places on gender equality, implementing concrete and meaningful actions for all employees. Investing in workers is the foundation of sustainability and we are implementing this with our growing commitment to responsibility, which relies on the welfare and people care programmes launched in 2017. These programmes have enabled us to introduce multiple initiatives in order to meet the needs and requirements of workers and their families, without discrimination. Furthermore, since 2017 we have placed particular emphasis on balancing gender opportunities in the recruitment and selection processes as well as in our internal resource enhancement processes' stated Silvia Marinari, Head of Human Resources, Organisation and General Affairs of Terna.

The Bloomberg analysis rewards Terna's commitment to reporting and transparency. Terna continuously monitors the main indicators for gender equality outlined by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, together with a series of management parameters, in order to certify the equal treatment of men and women in line with the Group's Code of Ethics, i.e. absence of disadvantages for women or significant inequality.

In addition to its inclusion in the Bloomberg GEI, Terna is also present in the following international sustainability indices: Dow Jones Sustainability (World and Europe), Euronext (World, Europe and Eurozone), FTSE4Good, STOXX® ESG (Global, Environmental, Social e Governance), STOXX® Low Carbon, ECPI, ESI (Ethibel Sustainability Index), MSCI, United Nations Global Compact (GC100).
