TikTok Inc.?s parent company ByteDance (Beijing Byte Dance Telecommunications Co., Ltd.) is further scaling back its ambitions in the gaming industry and is in talks to sell game titles to several prospective buyers. Chinese media LatePost reported on January 8, 2024 that ByteDance?s gaming unit Nuverse (Nuverse (Hong Kong) Limited) is negotiating to sell games to Tencent Holdings Limited (SEHK:700). A Bytedance spokesperson told The Wall Street Journal on January 9, 2024 that negotiations with multiple potential buyers are ongoing and Nuverse hasn?t finalized any transaction with Tencent.
