Alexander Dyakonov, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, was appointed as a new rector of the Almetyevsk State Petroleum Institute.

The presentation of a new head of AGNI (Almetyevsk State Petroleum Institute) took place at the Academic Council Extraordinary Meeting with the participation of Nail Maganov, Director General of TATNEFT, and Andrey Pominov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan.

TATNEFT, which is one of the University's Board of Trustees members, presented a project for the construction of a new research campus and training center of AGNI at the meeting, designed to become the leading Higher Petroleum Education School of the country. The Academic Council also discussed the strategy for the subsequent development of the Almetyevsk Petroleum Institute as the Higher Petroleum Education School and growth points of the AGNI's scientific potential, as well as considered the issues of the functional focus and equipment of the laboratory building, etc.

Nail Maganov, Director General of TATNEFT:

'The successful future of our country depends on the qualifications of the industry professionals. Therefore, the university graduates of today must be savvy, taking into account all modern trends. And here, of course, the team and the head of the Institute play an important role. Alexander Anatolyevich is a Doctor of Technical Sciences and a person with extensive experience in management activities. I am sure that together we shall achieve our goals. For its part, the Company will continue providing comprehensive support in the implementation of the AGNI strategy, which is our common cause'.

Andrey Pominov, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan:

'Despite his young age, Alexander Anatolyevich is a man with great track record and experience in teaching, research and production activities. His background instills confidence that AGNI will move forward in tune with the times and participate in federal programs, including the 'Science' project. The Tatarstan universities and the Almetyevsk Petroleum Institute will perform research and development activities on the priorities of scientific and technological development in the format of a consortium'.

Alexander Dyakonov, AGNI Rector:

In the new position, I shall use all the extensive experience that I gained during my work at my native South Ural State University.

The Institute management activities will be based on the principles of information openness. We are facing here are many tasks there and they are difficult, but I am sure that they are within our power and we will strive to achieve concrete results in accordance with the development strategy of the Institute. We shall do everything together with the AGNI team to ensure that our Institute will become the leading scientific and educational center of the domestic oil and petrochemical industry and will win ranking positions in the global educational space.
