Spie, a French energy and communications services group, announced on Wednesday that it had taken part in the construction of an innovative biofuel plant in the Netherlands.

This modular plant - developed by Swedish company C-Green - converts wet biomass, in this case sewage sludge, into hydrochar, thereby reducing waste, while generating a dry product that can be used as biofuel or fertilizer.

This energy-efficient process can convert five kilos of sludge into one kilo of hydrochar, with an organic and environmentally-friendly end product that can be used as biofuel or fertilizer.

In a press release, Spie says it will make its expertise and capacity to design, install and maintain the facilities available to C-Green in the Netherlands - and possibly in other European countries.
