                          Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 4 January 2013, the following ordinary shares were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option allotments under the Spectris Savings Related Share Option Scheme:

502 shares at 723 penceper share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 7,611,877 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 117,393,246.
