Showa Shell Sekiyu along with 100% owned subsidiary company and the world's largest CIS solar energy solutions provider, Solar Frontier, today announced that they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding stipulating a joint feasibility study into the possibility of CIS solar panel production in the Kingdom with Saudi Arabian National Industrial Cluster Development Program and Saudi Aramco. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is currently promoting its economic reform initiative known as Vision 2030 and as part of that, the Kingdom intends to conduct this joint feasibility study to research the technological and economic aspects of CIS thin-film solar panel production in the Kingdom.

The Showa Shell Sekiyu Group has various interests and deep ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as well as Saudi Aramco and is deeply appreciative of this significant opportunity for the joint feasibility study. Specific details relating to this joint feasibility study are unavailable at this time and further developments will be announced depending on the results of the study.
