Serco's NorthLink Ferries was proud to support Shetland's world-renowned fire festival, Up Helly Aa, once again on Tuesday 30 January.

The ferry operator continued its sponsorship of the Junior Jarl Squad who marched on board MV Hrossey before enjoying lunch with family and friends.

Leading the Squad was 14 year old Sonny Teale who presented a Viking shield to the vessel's Master, Stuart Pottinger, along with Shetland Service Manager, Jane Leask, as a mark of thanks.

Speaking of the support, Jane commented: 'It is always a great pleasure to host the Junior Jarl Squad and receive the shield. Thanks to our continuing support of Up Helly Aa, we now have an extensive collection of shields on board our ferries for passengers to view, all of which offer a glimpse into Shetland's unique culture and heritage.'

Sonny, whose Viking name is 'King Haakon Longlegs', added: 'The Junior Jarl Squad had a great time on board and we are always very grateful of the support from NorthLink Ferries. We really enjoyed celebrating with the crew and our family and friends and hope our shield displayed on board helps guests understand more about Shetland's Up Helly Aa fire festival.'
