Schneider National, Inc. announced earnings results for the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2019. For the fourth quarter, the company announced sales was USD 1,156.3 million compared to USD 1,321.6 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 78.1 million compared to USD 118.6 million a year ago. Net income was USD 55.9 million compared to USD 84.8 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 0.32 compared to USD 0.48 a year ago. For the full year, sales was USD 4,747 million compared to USD 4,977 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 207.8 million compared to USD 375.8 million a year ago. Net income was USD 147 million compared to USD 268.9 million a year ago. Diluted earnings per share was USD 0.83 compared to USD 1.52 a year ago.
Schneider National, Inc. is a transportation and logistics services company. The Company and its subsidiaries provide surface transportation and logistics solutions in North America. The Company operates through three segments: Truckload, Intermodal and Logistics. The Truckload segment provides truckload services primarily focused on freight with consistent routes often based on long-term contracts, Van Network, which consists of irregular routes, and Bulk, which delivers key inputs for manufacturing processes, such as specialty chemicals using specialty trailers. The Intermodal segment provides rail intermodal and drayage services to its customers. Company-owned containers, chassis, and dray tractors are used to provide these transportation services. The Logistics segment provides additional sources of truck capacity, manages transportation-systems analysis requirements for individual customers, and provides transloading and warehousing services.
