When Michelin arranged a special media day for invited journalists at the end of 2021, Enviro came into focus when Michelin presented its initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of its own tyre production. Sander Vermeulen, Vice President, End-of-Life Rubber Products Recycling Business at Michelin, and also a board member of Scandinavian Enviro Systems, emphasized in his presentation how recovered carbon black can contribute to improving Michelin's environmental sustainability. Sander also stated that Michelin has invested in Enviro to help industrialize Enviro's technology for recycling end-of-life tires, and to help produce larger volumes of recovered carbon black.

Last year, Michelin presented two new environmentally sustainable racing tyres, both of which have a high content of recovered carbon black from Enviro. At a conference on carbon black in November last year, Michelin and Bridgestone jointly highlighted the environmental benefits of increased use of recovered carbon black. At the same time, the two companies also invited operators from different parts of the value chain within the tyre and rubber industry to participate in what they called "the joint journey toward increased material circularity."

Michelin has previously communicated the goal that all its tyres by 2050 will be manufactured from only sustainable materials.
