The Russian Institute of Directors used a new methodology of the National Corporate Governance Rating (NCGR) to assess the corporate governance practices of Sberbank. As a result, the bank's rating was raised from 8+ to 8++ (Advanced Corporate Governance Practice). Sberbank became the first Russian company with an NCGR to receive the 8++ rating for improving and applying the best corporate governance practices.

The NCGR methodology was expanded in 2021 to include new criteria related to sustainability and ESG management. The assessing experts acknowledged the progress made by the bank in developing its comprehensive ESG and sustainability management system.

The assessment of corporate governance practices also covered shareholder rights, activities of management and oversight bodies, as well as financial and non-financial disclosure.

Based on the assessment results, Sberbank reaffirmed its leadership in implementing best corporate governance practices and demonstrated active commitment to advancing the ESG agenda.

According to the National Corporate Governance Rating scale, an NCGR of 8++ means the company complies with a substantial portion of the Russian Corporate Governance Code recommendations and sustainability standards. Stakeholders' risks associated with the quality of corporate governance and sustainability management are insignificant.
