Valoriza Conservación de Infraestructuras, a Sacyr company, has become the first company in the road maintenance sector to be certified under the UNE ISO 39001 Standard on Road Safety Management Systems.

CEA Consultores en Seguridad Vial has advised Valoriza on the certification and the international company Bureau Veritas carried out the audit. Valoriza Conservación de Infraestructuras shows that it meets all the requirements of this completely voluntary standard, which aims to help organizations to improve road safety during the execution of their activities and reduce road accidents.

The issue ceremony of the certificate was held yesterday at the headquarters of Sacyr in Madrid and was attended by the chief executive officer of Valoriza Gestión, Fernando Lozano; the director of Valoriza Conservación de Infraestructuras, Fabio Manrique; the director for Innovation of Valoriza, Juan Pous; the managing director of Comisariado Europeo del Automóvil (CEA), Rafael Fernández-Chillón; the director for Vertical Operations of Bureau Veritas in Spain and Portugal, Eduard Pérez-Olmo and the managing director of Bureau Veritas Certificación for Spain and Portugal, Mónica Botas.

The commitment to road safety, boosted by the management and driven by the corporate's Prevention Area, has led Valoriza Conservación de Infraestructuras to implement a management system, with a specific policy from management; some of the most notable measures consisted in implementing improvements through R&D&i projects, provide training on this subject to employees, eliminate risks by improving procedures and create a mini-site with all documentation and records necessary for consultation by any Sacyr employee. Bureau Veritas audited the resources to guarantee that employees of Valoriza Conservación de Infraestructuras work with the necessary Road Safety resources.
