BEIJING (AP) _ RISE Education Cayman Ltd. (REDU) on Thursday reported a second-quarter loss of $8.2 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Beijing-based company said it had a loss of 15 cents per share. Losses, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 13 cents per share.

The provider of after-school English and tutoring services posted revenue of $23.4 million in the period.

For the current quarter ending in October, RISE Education said it expects revenue in the range of $46 million to $47.4 million.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $3.54. A year ago, they were trading at $8.15.
