MONTREAL (AP) _ Resolute Forest Products Inc. (RFP) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $71 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Montreal-based company said it had a loss of 79 cents. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs, were 59 cents per share.

The maker of paper and wood products posted revenue of $668 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $47 million, or 51 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $2.92 billion.

The company's shares closed at $3.78. A year ago, they were trading at $9.19.
