The government plans to merger PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (JKSE:BMRI), PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (JKSE:BBNI) , PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (JKSE:BBRI) and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (JKSE:BBTN). Following the implementation of the Asean Economy Community, the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry is discussing the merger of Indonesia's state-owned banks.

Consolidating the four banks under a single holding company is seen as one way to improve Indonesia's position.
