Powell Industries, Inc. announced that Thomas W. Powell elected to step down as Chairman of the Board as of September 16, 2019 in furtherance of the Company's continued long-term succession planning efforts. In recognition of Mr. Powell's longstanding service and contributions, the Board designated Mr. Powell as Chairman Emeritus of the Board. Mr. Powell intends to continue actively serving as a director on the Board. The Company announced that, in connection with Mr. Powell's transition to Chairman Emeritus, the Board elected Brett A. Cope as its new Chairman of the Board as of September 16, 2019. Mr. Cope has served as the Company's Chief Executive Officer since October 1, 2016, and as a member of the Board since September 27, 2016. Mr. Cope joined the Company in December 2010 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from December 2015 until his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in October 2016.
