AMA issues CPT® Category III codes for Mechanical Scalp Cooling, further facilitating the treatment of chemotherapy-induced hair loss

PAXMAN AB today announces that the American Medical Association (AMA) has issued two (2) separate CPT® codes for the "mechanical scalp cooling". The CPT® Category III codes are: 0662T and 0663T and are effective July 1, 2020.

The two new category lll codes for the Paxman Scalp cooling procedure are:

  1. Scalp cooling, mechanical; initial measurement and calibration of cap. (Report 0662T once per chemotherapy treatment period)
  2. Placement of device, monitoring, and removal of device (List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)
(Use 0663T in conjunction with 96409, 96411, 96413, 96415, 96416, 96417)
(Report 0663T once per chemotherapy session)
