Venlo, The Netherlands, 8 February 2012 - Océ, a Canon Group company and an international leader in digital document management and delivery, today announced the launch of its new Eneo web service, which offers a secure and easy way to distribute technical documents via the web. This unique new service provides a cost-effective solution for technical document users. It has been developed by Océ in cooperation with Document Services Valley, an independent foundation launched by Océ and two other partners. It is based on the long experience of Océ as the market leader in technical document printing systems and workflows.

Theo Herraets, Business Manager Eneo, says, "Distributing documents in the technical world is often laborious, time-consuming and lacks transparency for the people involved. This process is compounded by the short lead times, complex information and frequent changes involved with these documents. We developed Eneo to give technical users a more economic way to handle and control their documents without making large investments."

Easy to use

In the technical industry, many different parties are involved in the distribution of documents and there is always pressure on getting documents out as quickly as possible. Eneo was designed in close cooperation with experts in the technical industry to make it as easy and straightforward to use as possible. Eneo is a web service which allows users to access files from any fixed or mobile workspots, via pcs, tables and smart phones. For easy integration with third party systems a comprehensive API (application programming interface) is available. A ready-made plugin for SharePoint 2010 is already available.

Saves time and money right away

Eneo is a complete Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. This means it requires no investment in hardware, software or even training, thanks to its ease of use. As a web service, the latest version of Eneo is always available. It reduces the costs of printing, postage and IT. The simplified workflow of Eneo not only saves employee time, but it shortens the turnaround times on projects. Because Eneo runs in the cloud, there is no IT overhead on local desktops or servers, and users' mailboxes are not overloaded with large attachments. This reduces the need for additional servers to be purchased and managed. Users receive their own secure user ID and password without bothering IT managers.

Digital and paper

Paper documents still play an important role in construction projects during the commercial tender phase as well as the building phase. Recipients of distributed documents who want to print can do so directly from the cloud. Eneo is linked to a network of professional print businesses that can fulfill any print requirements promptly. Of course, if recipients prefer, they can simply download documents they have been sent and work with them locally in a digital or paper workflow.

Full control

The process of distributing documents through Eneo is completely transparent. The sender will immediately see exactly who, when and what version of the documents each recipient received, and what responses have been given. In fact, Eneo is similar to registered mail. The receiver can immediately find the current version of all documents received, as well as a complete history of what documents were sent and when.
