Telefónica is extending services of its call centre situated in Ústí nad Labem.In the next four months, the company will offer 60 new job openings. The number of call centre operators is t o increase by seven percent compared to the previous year. The call centre in Ústí nad Labem has already seen 35 percent headcount increase (more than 300 employees) over the past three years.

"Working in a call centre is ideal for new graduates as well as other candidates with no work experience. The candidates can gain their first work experience there and start up their career with a strong international company offering ample professional growth opportunities. The average age of call centre employees is around 30," says Ctirad Lolek, Human Resources Director, Telefónica Czech Republic.

"We are preferably looking for operators for telephone sales and for candidates to reinforce our technical support," says Aleš Jelínek, Customer Care Director, Telefónica Czech Republic. "The newcomers will first go through a thorough training learning about the company, telecommunications market and service portfolio. We will train them how to communicate with customers, and obviously, they will also learn to use our systems," he adds.

Telefónica is the largest call centre operator in the Czech Republic. Its call centres employ staff of over 3,000.

The call centre in Ústí nad Labem is the second largest customer care centre operated by Telefónica in the Czech Republic. Its operators support business customers, are in charge of telephone sales and provide technical support. The newly reinforced call centre in Ústí nad Labem will be ready to handle up to 5 million calls and requests per year. One operator handles on average 800 to 1,000 calls per month. One call takes on average 4 minutes and 4 minutes are needed to process it.

"The creation of the new call centre jobs will have a positive effect on the offer of jobs in Ústí nad Labem. At the moment there are 20 candidates per vacancy in our register. This offer may also be attractive for candidates with incomplete secondary education; in the first month of the year, in January, there are 3,200 of them in our register," explains Radim Gabriel, Director of the Employment Office in Ústí nad Labem.

Think Big Programme

Young people, not only in the Ústí nad Labem Region, have an opportunity to get support from Telefónica for their non-for profit projects as well. With the help of the Think Big programme they can make their ideas come true, or develop or change something in their community. Last year, when the Think Big community programme was launched, Telefónica supported 100 of 300 projects submitted by young people. In the Ústí nad Labem Region, there were 13 projects supported by almost CZK 570,000. Every year, the programme can distribute roughly CZK 12 million supporting young people and their ideas. All they have to do, is to submit their projects on time.

Think Big will not only provide them with funding, it will also take care of their communication and presentation skills training delivered by experienced tutors, will provide them with basic technologies and offer a helping hand of Telefónica employees.
