Novartis to close its New York plant and eliminate 525 jobs. The company, which lost exclusivity for manufacturing its Diovan heart medication in 2012, will shut down its factory in Suffern, Rockland County, after suffering a sharp decline in demand. Novartis also is eliminating about 500 jobs in Switzerland.
Some of its New York employees could be transferred to other locations.
