JABIRU-2 SET FOR LAUNCH AND AWAITING NEW DATE NewSat Limited (ASX: NWT) (OTCQX: NWTLY), Australia's satellite company, has been advised by MEASAT that the launch of the MEASAT-3b satellite, which will host the Jabiru-2 payload, has been postponed. The new launch date will be announced as soon as possible.

MEASAT-3b is one of two satellites to be carried by Arianespace flight VA218, a dual launch from the European Spaceport in French Guiana. Arianespace announced the postponement after being informed by Optus Networks Pty. Ltd. that its OPTUS 10 satellite, the co-passenger to MEASAT-3b, requires additional verifications.
The MEASAT-3b satellite is ready for launch and will remain at the European Spaceport pending the availability of the co-passenger. The launch postponement will have no material impact on NewSat, as Jabiru-2 is leased capacity on the MEASAT-3b satellite and lease payments do not commence until after launch.
Jabiru-2 is 216MHz of capacity that will provide coverage across Australia, Timor Leste, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, and satisfy the growing demand for communications from enterprise and government sectors.

In commenting on the rescheduled launch, MEASAT's Senior Vice President - Space System Development, Dr Ali Ebadi said:

"The MEASAT-3b launch date was rescheduled to allow the co-passenger additional time to prepare for the launch. The main focus of the launch campaign is to ensure that both the satellite and launch vehicle are ready for launch. Given the complexity of the satellite and launch vehicle, it is not uncommon for the technical teams to request time for additional checks. The duration of these checks depends on the specific situation. MEASAT will provide updates on further developments."
