NewSat Limited (ASX: NWT, OTCQX: NWTLY), Australia's satellite company, has secured a new satellite capacity contract with a South Asia satellite operator. Over a 5 year term, the contract is for the US$9 million supply of Jabiru-1 satellite transmission capacity across Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Middle East. For commercial reasons, the customer's identity cannot be disclosed at this time.

Currently providing broadcast, telecommunications and data services via satellite in C and Ku-band, the customer is looking to augment their offering with Jabiru-1 Ka-band to deliver increased benefit and value to their customers and partners.

Commenting on this new contract for Jabiru-1, NewSat Founder and CEO, Adrian Ballintine said:

"As we continue to see Jabiru-1's unique Ka-band capacity meeting the growing demand from the emerging economies across the MENA region, we will see more contracts as we approach launch. We are very excited with this new contract with an experienced satellite operator in the region, taking the total of pre-launch customer contracts for Jabiru-1 to US$636 million. From a manufacturing perspective, spacecraft integration is underway at Lockheed Martin and preparations are on schedule for launch in the first half of 2016.
