Neoen has secured the needed financing for its 150-MW Coleambally solar project in New South Wales and plans to start construction in January 2018. The Coleambally solar park will be built in the Riverina region of New South Wales, consisting of 565,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels. Once operational, it is estimated to generate some 390,000 MWh of electricity annually, or enough to supply over 65,000 local homes. The plant's peak capacity will be 189 MWp. The project is expected to create 300 jobs during the construction phase and seven ongoing operational roles after construction is completed. It is in line with Neoen's strategy to own and operate 1,000 MW of renewable energy capacity in Australia. The French company's goal is to attain 4,000 MW of renewable energy capacity globally by 2020.
