MONETA Invested 60 Million in Branch Modernization This Year, Plans to Continue Next Year
Prague, 23 November 2021
Twelve total reconstructions, fifty small modernisations, together costing almost CZK 60 million. This is the sum total of this year's modernisation of Moneta's branch network across the country. Next year, another 19 branches should undergo a complete renovation, and the bank intends to spend around CZK 100 million on their modernisation.
The average cost of a complete reconstruction and modernisation of a branch was just under CZK 5 million. The costs of so-called small modernisations, in which the bank invested mainly in the renewal of IT equipment at fifty branches, averaged over CZK 100,000 per branch.
"In addition to the classic exterior and interior renovations, the modernization included mainly the client service system and the work of our bankers. They are equipped with laptops, thanks to which they are no longer tied to one specific workplace and can schedule their working hours according to their appointments. This is also a great benefit for clients with whom bankers move to meeting rooms for meetings, where they have more privacy when negotiating investments or mortgages, etc. This so-called flexi concept has proven itself very quickly and we intend to transfer it to all our branches in the country as part of the modernisation of our network," confirmed Aleš Sloupenský, Chief Retail Banking Officer of the MONETA Group.
In order to make the newly modernised branches comfortable for all client groups, MONETA started to use a unique Swiss aid for creating a sense of age, the so-called geriatric suit, when planning the reconstruction. The 15-pound vest, special headphones, glasses and gloves, simulating joint stiffness, whistling in the ears, cataracts or trembling hands, was funded by MONETA this spring for the non-profit organisation ADRA as part of its grant programme. The suit, of which there are only a few pieces in the Czech Republic, is thus available in agreement with the aforementioned organisation for planning future renovated branches to be more friendly not only to the elderly but to all other clients suffering from these health problems.
MONETA Group's branch network comprises 154 branches across the Czech Republic. The bank also has 555 ATMs, contract car dealers, a building savings bank, financial intermediaries and leasing partners. Its imaginary flagship is the cutting-edge digital mobile banking application Smart banka, for which MONETA was awarded the prestigious Innovator of the Year award for the fourth consecutive year.
