Facebook's fourth-quarter numbers are in, and they are better than expected.

The company reported per-share earnings of $3.88 on revenue of $28.07 billion. Analysts, on average, were expecting earnings of $3.19 a share on revenue of $26.36 billion, according to FactSet.

Shares fell 4% in after-hours trading. Before the results, the stock had risen 27% over the past 12 months.
