Meiko Network Japan Co., Ltd. announced consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended November 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net sales of JPY 4,111 million against JPY 3,876 million a year ago. Operating income was JPY 379 million against JPY 331 million a year ago. Ordinary income was JPY 369 million against JPY 457 million a year ago. Net loss attributable to the owners of the parent was JPY 94 million or JPY 3.43 per share against net income of JPY 353 million or JPY 12.80 per share a year ago. Loss before income taxes and non-controlling interests was JPY 34,119,000 against income of JPY 559,174,000 a year ago.
For the second quarter ending February 29, 2016, the company expects net sales of JPY 9,782 million, operating income of JPY 1,605 million, ordinary income of JPY 1,656 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 665 million or JPY 24.62 per share against previously announced guidance of net sales of JPY 9,959 million, operating income of JPY 2,069 million, ordinary income of JPY 2,181 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 1,376 million or JPY 50.67 per share.
For the full year ending August 31, 2016, the company expects net sales of JPY 19,639 million, operating income of JPY 2,870 million, ordinary income of JPY 2,990 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 1,442 million or JPY 53.85 per share against previously announced guidance of net sales of JPY 19,818 million, operating income of JPY 3,700 million, ordinary income of JPY 3,881 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 2,400 million or JPY 89.54 per share.
For the full year ending August 31, 2016, on non-consolidated basis, the company expects net sales of JPY 14,841 million, ordinary income of JPY 2,825 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 1,613 million or JPY 60.26 per share against previously announced guidance of net sales of JPY 15,049 million, ordinary income of JPY 3,625 million, net income attributable to owners of the parent of JPY 2,334 million or JPY 87.07 per share.
MEIKO NETWORK JAPAN CO., LTD. is mainly engaged in the operation of cram school business. The Company operates in three business segments. The Meiko Cram School Direct Operation segment is engaged in the provision of teaching guidance and the sale of teaching materials and text books. The Meiko Cram School Franchise segment provides guidance to classroom setting up and operation, and sells classroom supplies, machines, teaching materials, among others. The Preparatory Schools segment is involved in the operation of specialty cram schools for medical college entrance exam. The Others segment is engaged in the operation of soccer schools for children, individual tutoring cram schools for high academic level, long-term tutoring cram schools, as well as the publishing of academic textbooks, among others.
