The U.S. Department of Defense's Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) has awarded ManTech International Corporation (NASDAQ:MANT) a one-year extension to provide scientific, engineering, technical, and administrative support.

The mission of the CTTSO is to conduct the National R&D Program for Combating Terrorism through rapid research, development and prototyping. ManTech's services will help to improve policy development, management, and administration as well as systems operations that support the CTTSO mission.

Under the contract extension, ManTech will continue to provide the CTTSO with Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS). ManTech's services will also go to support the CTTSO's Technical Support Working Group (TSWG). The TSWG is an interagency body that develops tools for use in the battle against terrorism.

"The CTTSO customer has unique operational and technical demands and they need to quickly deploy advanced solutions to fight the war on terror," said Terry M. Ryan, president and chief operating officer of ManTech's Systems Engineering and Advanced Technology group. "We are honored to contribute to the success of the CTTSO mission with vital support in rapid acquisition, systems engineering, and prototype development and testing."

ManTech professionals will continue to provide the CTTSO with three primary A&AS categories: management and professional support services; studies, analyses and evaluations; and all non-A&AS services necessary to support the CTTSO mission.

Funding, task selection and task management will not be set by any single agency and community need will determine task priority. The TSWG operates through the U.S. Department of State Office of the Coordinator for Counterterrorism and the U.S. Department of Defense, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict.
