Manila Electric : Key Corporate Governance Events in 2015

The last quarter of 2015 was a momentous period for Corporate Governance in Meralco - the group had a number of events. Most notable of which is the Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Sessions for Senior Management and for Directors of the entire MVP group last October 29 and 30, 2015. The sessions, which were facilitated by Attorney Jose Jesus Disini of the Disini & Disini Law Firm, revolved around the topic of Data and Information Rules - a timely topic, given the direction of the business environment in our country towards technological development.

Aside from the foregoing, members of the Corporate Governance Office along with Key Management Officers also attended various fora such as the PSE-SEC Governance Forum last October 15, 2015. Our officers were also present for the Institute of Solidarity in Asia's forum on the Islands of Good Governance, a recognition of the public sector institutions that serve as beacons of good governance practices.

Last but not least, Meralco was also a gold sponsor for the 4th Annual Forum of the Good Governance Advocates and Practitioners of the Philippines (GGAPP). The forum tackled the topic of Board Independence and our very own director Retired Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban was one of the speakers. Our Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan was also a panellist for the second half of the forum.
