Landkom International Plc : Winter planting up 3.4% to 29,841 hectares

Landkom International PLC (AIM: LKI, "Landkom" or
"the Group"), the Ukrainian producer of
agricultural commodities, has completed its winter planting
campaign.
The Group has planted a total winter crop of 29,841
hectares (ha) across Landkom's three regions, a 3.4%
increase on the 28,856 ha planted in 2010. 23,478 ha
were planted in the Group's western region (2010: 19,930),
4,293 ha in the southern region (2010: 3,350 ha) and 2,070
ha in the central region (2010: 5,576 ha).
The Group's maize harvest is well underway and is expected
to be completed by the end of November. Further
updates on the harvest results for maize, soybean and
sunflower will be made when all data is confirmed and
verified.
Vitaliy Skotsyk, Landkom's CEO said:
"This is a very sound start to our 2011/12 planting
plan and all of the crops were planted in the optimum
planting window. We are pleased with our maize harvest to
date and will provide an update on this and other crops
shortly.
Landkom International PLC (Landkom) is a producer of agricultural crops for supply to the global food and biodiesel markets. The principal activity of the Company is the cultivation and distribution of arable crops. Landkom produces agricultural commodities, including rapeseed, wheat, barley, maize, soyabean and sunflower. The Company's farming operations are located throughout Ukraine and divided to three operational clusters: West, Centre and South. As of October 31, 2010, the Company cultivated approximately 39,000 hectares of crop delivering over 96,000 tons of oil seed and grain. As of October 31, 2010, total area controlled by Landkom was 73,995 hectares, and total land planted with crop was 48,000 hectares. On September 2, 2010, the Company acquired 100% of the share capital of Morion Agro PP, which is a Ukrainian farming entity. In January 2012, Alpcot Agro AB acquired Landkom.
